Sunday School will resume at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Sunday, September 18th Learn more.
Sunday School at Church of the Good Shepherd is thriving! During the summer of 2016 some of our talented parishioners lent a hand updating our classrooms and renovating the bathrooms–even our curriculum was refreshed.
Currently we are using Buzz; a highly interactive curriculum which caters to various learning styles. Buzz allows our teacher volunteers to focus on the joy of teaching, rather than planning lessons as each lesson follows a systematic approach. Our teacher volunteers are made up of parishioners who serve a four to five week term.
Prior to the start of our classroom lessons, a volunteer from our congregation narrates a Bible story to our students. Both the students and the storytellers really look forward to this activity. In addition to our regular classes, we also offer several special events held throughout the year. These events often combine all grade levels, giving students an opportunity to connect as a community.
Aside from our pre-school through 7th grade program we offer a high school (8th grade through 12th grade) program. Our high school students participate in lessons each Sunday that incorporate relevent discussion topics.
When the bell rings after the first Eucharistic prayer during the Sunday morning service, the kids and their teachers join worship in the sanctuary and fill up the church with joyful noise. They stay with their families until the end of the service, then come into the parish hall for snacks and drinks.
